Audit Coverage
If the IRS Audits, a CPA Answers
When the IRS questions a return we prepared, you don't handle it alone. A licensed CPA or IRS Enrolled Agent on our team steps in, deals with the IRS directly, and works the audit through to its conclusion.

The work
The short version
Audit Coverage is the firm standing behind the returns it files. If the IRS selects a return we prepared for examination, a licensed CPA or IRS Enrolled Agent provides the support and represents you through the process. Enrolled Agents and CPAs are credentialed to deal with the IRS on a taxpayer's behalf, so the conversation happens between professionals, not between the IRS and a worried client.
This isn't an upsell or a separate policy you buy. It's included by default with every return we file. We prepare returns we're willing to defend, and audit coverage is how we put that on the record.
What's included
What you get.
CPA or EA Representation
A licensed CPA or IRS Enrolled Agent handles the audit and is authorized to deal with the IRS on your behalf.
Direct IRS Correspondence
We respond to IRS notices and letters tied to the return, so the back-and-forth runs through us, not you.
Documentation Support
We help assemble and organize the records the IRS asks for, drawn from the return we already prepared.
Position Defense
We explain and stand behind the positions taken on the return, since we're the ones who prepared it.
Included by Default
Coverage comes with every return we file. There's nothing extra to purchase and nothing to opt into.
One Firm, Start to Finish
The same firm that filed the return sees the audit through, so nobody is learning your situation from scratch.
Who it's for
Is this you?
This applies to every client we file for. If All American Tax prepared your return, audit coverage is already part of it. You don't need to be a planning client or buy anything additional — it's the default for individuals and business owners alike.
- You want the firm that prepares your return to defend it
- You'd rather a credentialed professional talk to the IRS than do it yourself
- You're choosing a preparer and want to know who answers if an audit comes
- You received an IRS notice on a return we filed
How it works
How working with us goes.
You forward the notice
If you get an IRS letter about a return we prepared, you send it to us. We review what the IRS is asking and what it covers.
A CPA or EA takes it on
A licensed CPA or Enrolled Agent steps in, becomes the point of contact with the IRS, and handles the correspondence and document requests.
We work it to a close
We assemble the records, explain the positions on the return, and stay on it until the audit is resolved.
FAQ
Audit Coverage, in plain terms
Does audit coverage cost extra?
No. It's included with every return we file, not sold as an add-on. If we prepared the return, the coverage is already there.
Who actually deals with the IRS?
A licensed CPA or IRS Enrolled Agent. Both are credentialed to represent taxpayers before the IRS, so a qualified professional handles the audit on your behalf rather than leaving you to face it alone.
What if the audit is on a return another firm prepared?
Audit Coverage applies to returns we prepared — it's the firm standing behind its own work. If you have an issue on a return filed elsewhere, call us at (913) 764-1520 and we'll talk through your options.
